A Lagos State court has ordered singer, Oxlade, to pay N5 million for damages over leaked sex tape
It was recalled that the s*x tape of the Nigerian singer, Oxlade was leaked last year, Feb 2022 on Snapchat.
Lagos court finally judged the case after the female victim filed a lawsuit against Oxlade for damages.
At the time, the video sparked reactions from the public and the singer had to tender an apology to his fans as well as the woman involved in the video.
According to the report, it was stated that the leaked s*x tape was secretly recorded by Oxlade, as the female involved had no knowledge or gave consent to making the video.
The woman identified as John Blessing filed a lawsuit and asked for 20 million naira for damages and declared Oxlade act of recording a s*x tape without her consent, a gross violation of her fundamental human right to dignity, privacy, and freedom.
In court, the judge, Justice Oresanya described the action of the singer as distasteful and classless.
He awarded the female victim 5 million naira and cautioned the singer against such acts in his relationship with the opposite s*x in the nearest future.
In his words:
“The action and attitude of the Respondent (Oxlade), who is said to be a celebrity, is despicable, horrendous, distasteful and classless.
“The Respondent is admonished strongly to act with utmost circumspection in his relationship with fellow humans, especially the opposite sex. ‘what goes around comes around’. I need not say more.”
